This past week, Faith Presbyterian Church began hosting homeless families. With the help of many hands and volunteers, the church building became the home to four families. Volunteers took the time to:

  • Drive the Family Promise van in the early mornings and late afternoons.

  • Make and serve dinner each evening (individuals, pairs, or groups).

  • Set up classrooms into bedrooms.

  • Spend the night at the church each evening and wake up guests in the morning.

  • Shop for needed breakfast and lunch items.

  • Wash laundry.

For this week, with the help of generous volunteers and the shelter of a church building, we address the issue of homelessness by being good stewards of the gifts we have been gifted.

A few days ago, the Today Show aired a segment about how non-profit organizations like Family Promise is working to transform the lives of people who are homeless.
