On Easter, April 21, we will receive our special One Great Hour of Sharing offering. This special offering reminds us of the connectional nature of the church and the amazing work that congregations within the PC(USA). As a church, we spend time together hearing about and praying for the ministries of compassion and justice done through our support of One Great Hour of Sharing.
Throughout the year we pray for people around the world and in our own backyards who suffer in ways many of us will never experience. We needn’t feel helpless. We can help through our generous One Great Hour of Sharing gifts which support ministries of disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, food for the hungry, and community development that helps people find safe refuge, start new lives, and work together to strengthen their families and communities.
The ways in which our gifts have made a difference of late are immense. For instance, as of August 1, 2018, over $2,500,000 in grants have been disbursed to victims of hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. In 2017, 20 countries received aid and support after catastrophic events. Also in 2017, the Presbyterian Hunger Program gave grants totaling more than $1.1 million to help alleviate hunger across the United States and in 21 other countries.
Please consider giving a generous gift to OGHS that will go directly to Whitewater Valley Presbytery so that God’s work can continue around the world and in our own backyards.
