What do you say when you hear hateful language?
What do you do when you disagree and still want a relationship?
How do we talk about topics on which we disagree?
Faith Lifetree Cafe joins with the Revive Civility movement for a 60- minute experience to build our capacity for civil discourse. During the Cafe, as a participant you will be able to:
Define civility
Identify an “unlikely friendship” you can explore in your life
Brainstorm safe, civil and respectful ways to respond to hateful speech or behavior
Listen to another person’s perspective on an issue and reflect back
Explain why being able to listen for the purpose of understanding can help you better interact with other’s who think differently than they do
Engage in a respectful exchange regarding why you disagree with another person on a given issue
You do not need to use your own cell phone during this event.
LIfetree Cafe is a free conversation cafe, where all are welcome to join in compassionate, civil conversation.
Text, Talk, Revive Civility is Monday, March 2 at 7 PM.
