There has been an identified diagnosis of COVID-19 in Marion County. As this virus and influenza continue to spread, we address concerns about gathering and worshiping together.
- Currently, the most effective prevention recommended is:
- regularly cleaning of shared surfaces
- frequent and thorough handwashing
- avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth
- As always, those who are ill – particularly with a fever or any active cough – are encouraged to stay home.
- If you are coughing, protect those around you by:
- Covering your nose and mouth with something other than your hand
- Wash your hands frequently
- Use a new disposable tissue for each incident
- We encourage all worshipers to use other methods of passing the peace, besides handshaking. While not banning the shake, using alternative methods makes the most vulnerable among us welcome. Try:
- Fist bumps
- Elbow rubs
- Smiling and making eye contact
- Sharing communion, coffee fellowship and dinner is surrounded by standard practices of hygiene, which depends on those who prepare, those who serve and those who fellowship together.
- Preparers are expected to be healthy and follow proper hygiene.
- Those serving are asked to wash and/or sanitize their hands immediately before handling the elements
- If you feel sick in any way, we respectfully ask you to abstain from participating in communal food practices
- We who are the body of Jesus Christ are called to care for one another and our community.
- We follow healthy practices
- We do not put others at risk.

- If you experience symptoms, the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) recommends you contact the Epidemiology Resource Center at 317-233-7125 [317-233-1325 after hours] or e-mail epiresource@isdh.in.gov. The ISDH can then direct you to a hospital that is prepared for your arrival and testing.
- We care for the vulnerable.
- If you are ill or becoming isolated, please let the church know. We are here to connect and care for you.
- We take courage and find peace in Jesus Christ. We know of his presence with us, no matter what comes to us.
- Let us pray for peace, understanding, good prevention, swift care and attention to those who are ill and at risk.
