When Jesus was born, people flocked to meet him.  Shepherds came and praised.  Angels sang.  Wise men brought gifts.  All glory and honor were given to an infant who likely had dark skin and dark, curly hair, a member of a religious and ethnic minority group.

Jesus urged his followers to give and be gifts not just to each other, but to the whole world.  In our communities, we can embrace the Christ spirit by giving to organizations that provide food and resources to the needy, promote justice and anti-racism, and work for the betterment of all humanity.  We can also give of ourselves by defending the weak, speaking against hate in all its forms, and showing love to our neighbors – whether they look like us or the baby Jesus.
