Jordan Peele

Have you seen “If Beale Street Could Talk” (2018), “Get Out” (2017), or “Selma” (2014)? These films, directed by Barry Jenkins, Jordan Peele, and Ava DuVernay, are just a few popular choices among movies directed by people of color. This excellent list suggests 50 such movies, including “Gravity” (2013) directed by Alfonso Cuarón, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” (2000) directed by Ang Lee, and “The Shape of Water” (2017) directed by Guillermo del Toro. Movies can also provide us with an expert focus on race and racism (lists found here and here) such as “Dear White People” (2014), “Hotel Rwanda” (2004), and “To Kill a Mockingbird” (1962). As winter persists, you can choose from these lists to learn more about others and consider the world from another perspective.
