Lent was originally a season for new converts to learn and prepare for their baptism on Easter. During that time, they would study what was central to Christianity.
At the heart of Jesus’ teachings, we find liberation, love, mercy, and grace —all of which are meant to be very good news for us all. This Lent, we remember the good news really is good news.
ASH WEDNESDAY BREAD, SOUP, ASHES, FORGIVENESS
Ash Wednesday, February 18, we gather for a simple meal and a service of worship. We begin the Lenten journey with soup and bread, shared around tables.
We continue with worship. We confess, receive forgiveness, are marked with ashes (if we choose) and accept the invitation to practices that will deepen our connection to our gracious Lord, liberate us to live abundantly and unchain the burdens we place on others and our world.
6:15 PM – Bread and Soup Supper: Bring bread and/or soup if you are able. Come and eat, even if you are not.
7:00 PM – Service of Worship
Pastor Charlotte will be present at the church on Ash Wednesday, February 18, and available to impose ashes from 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
