Westminster Neighborhood Services, Inc (WNS) is a Christian community on the near eastside of Indianapolis that works with the neighborhood, religious organizations, and community partners to serve local families by providing children’s programs that meet nurturing, safety, educational, and developmental needs; providing food and clothing to meet the basic needs of neighborhood families, and providing supportive services. Children’s services are at the Children & Youth Education Center on State Street. Adult services, including the Food Pantry, clinics, and classes are at the Family & Adult Services Center on New York Street.
Faith is involved in a variety of ministries at WNS. Every Thursday members travel to Westminster to work in the Food Pantry delivering food to approved clients and serving a hot lunch to area residents who drop in. Faith also makes a monthly monetary donation to the Food Pantry. On the second Saturday of each month, members and friends are invited to Westminster to engage in maintenance of the facility. Five times a year Mission sponsors Tag-It Bag-It Sunday. One Sunday, reusable grocery sacks are distributed with a list of needed items and on the following Sunday the filled bags are returned to Faith. The Thursday volunteers deliver the Tag-It Bag-It bags to Westminster so the clients can shop for items they need. This past Christmas, Faith donated 600+ bars of soap and 600+ cans of Jiffy corn muffin mix. We also purchased and wrapped Christmas presents and basic clothing items for 70 children who participate in WNS’s Christmas Basket program. Members gather at Westminster on a weekend in early December to organize and distribute food, hygiene supplies, clothing, and gifts to the registered families.
